City of Gahanna Joins Power a Clean Future Ohio as 49th Member Community

(Gahanna, OH) – The City of Gahanna announced that it has joined Power a Clean Future Ohio (PCFO) as its 49th member community. Through this partnership, PCFO will provide local leadership with technical assistance and resources to help establish and achieve measurable, equitable, and economical clean energy goals. 

Gahanna intends to develop a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and is committed to a carbon reduction goal within the city of 50% by 2030. The city also aims to implement sustainability initiatives that provide economic and environmental benefits and promote greater community resilience.

“The City of Gahanna is excited to join PCFO and do our part to take strategic steps in pursuing a more sustainable, resilient community,” said Mayor Laurie Jadwin. “This partnership will help us create realistic goals that increase our efficiency and capacity, as well as improve the well-being of our residents and the environment.”

Councilmember Stephen Renner added, “I am proud to have led the development of this resolution to join PCFO. We are excited about the opportunities available to us by joining with our peer leaders across the state. Leveraging their expertise and technical support will support us in our efforts to reduce emissions, as well as preserving our community’s resources for years to come.”

“As stewards of Gahanna’s valuable natural resources and tax dollars, this partnership will provide a data-driven strategy,” Council President Merisa Bowers said. “Analytics provided through this partnership with PCFO will help us invest in proven approaches.”

Gahanna becomes the sixth city in Franklin County to join Power a Clean Future Ohio, alongside Bexley, Columbus, Reynoldsburg, Upper Arlington, and Worthington.
