Hamilton County joins Power A Clean Future Ohio, Becoming 36th Community and Fourth County

(COLUMBUS, OH)— At a recent Hamilton County Board of County Commissioners meeting, Commissioners unanimously adopted a resolution to join Power a Clean Future Ohio, furthering the County’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the communities it serves. PCFO will work with local leaders to provide technical assistance and partnerships to help County staff as they create a climate action plan like the Green Cincinnati Plan that has helped establish Cincinnati as a national leader in sustainability and an attractive destination for businesses and individuals. With passage of this resolution, Hamilton County became the 36th community and the fourth county to join Power a Clean Future Ohio and is the fourth County to join.

Power a Clean Future Ohio is a nonpartisan coalition that is dedicated to working with local communities to develop equitable clean energy solutions to benefit the well-being of residents, the environment, and the economy.

Joe Flarida, Executive Director of Power a Clean Future Ohio said, “Joining Power a Clean Future Ohio will enable Hamilton County to access tools and resources to create carbon reduction plans that can include climate measures, electric vehicles, and building initiatives as well as expanding on its solar rooftop installation. We look forward to working together to develop goals that are achievable, measurable, equitable, and economical.”

“I am looking forward to joining this cohort of communities across the state as Power A Clean Future Ohio can assist in our efforts to help build a more sustainable future that improves the quality of life for our county residents,” said Hamilton County Commissioner Denise Driehaus. “This is an opportunity to create a strategy for reducing the risks of climate change, expanding the adoption of electric vehicles, continuing to increase energy efficiency with county facilities and operations, and the ability to pursue more opportunities for solar development.”
