Pepper Pike Joins PCFO, Becoming the 55th Ohio Community to Advance Local Climate Leadership

Following the recent passage of a resolution before City Council, the City of Pepper Pike, Ohio has officially become the 55th member community of Power a Clean Future Ohio (PCFO). Through this membership, Pepper Pike will be able to leverage dedicated technical assistance, resources, and capacity in support of the City’s emissions reductions and sustainability goals.

In joining PCFO, Pepper Pike aims to build on its strong environmental foundation, including its extensive walking trail network and abundant green space. PCFO’s resources and strategic guidance will help the City evaluate sustainability projects and identify measures tailored to Pepper Pike’s needs and priorities.

“Joining Power a Clean Future Ohio gives Pepper Pike access to the expertise and technical support we need to continue advancing our sustainability agenda in a meaningful way,” said Mayor Richard M. Bain. “From exploring clean energy choices for our residents or municipal operations to protecting the native landscapes that make Pepper Pike special, PCFO will be a valuable partner in helping us achieve our goals and build upon our existing progress with a growing tree canopy, successful recycling programs, and plans for sustainable capital improvements at City Hall.”

“Our Council has long been committed to exploring sustainable solutions that deliver real value to our community,” said Councilmember Jackie Godic. “PCFO’s resources will help us identify solutions and develop an actionable path forward, with the confidence that we’re making well-informed decisions that benefit our present and future community and residents.”

"Pepper Pike's decision to join PCFO reflects the kind of engaged, deliberate local leadership that turns sustainability goals into real outcomes," said PCFO Executive Director Joe Flarida. "Our role is to meet communities where they are – helping them evaluate options, build actionable plans, and implement clean energy solutions that make sense for their operations, their residents, and their long-term goals. We're excited to bring that support to Pepper Pike."

Pepper Pike now joins a growing network of 55 diverse member communities across Ohio, all committed to reducing carbon emissions, improving local resilience, and creating healthier, more sustainable places to live and work. Together, these communities, representing 45% of Ohioans, are driving meaningful progress toward a cleaner energy future for the state.
