EV Smart Communities Program

The EV Smart Communities Program is a comprehensive technical assistance program specifically designed to assist local governments in Ohio to become more electric vehicle (EV) ready. The main objective of this program is to provide local governments with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively prepare their communities for the inevitable transition to electric vehicles. To achieve this, the EV Smart Communities Program offers resources and support in key areas crucial for successful EV integration.

The program’s best practices fall under six categories: planning, regulation, utility engagement, education and incentives, government operations, and shared mobility.

Local governments participating in the program will also have access to informative webinars and training sessions that cover topics such as EV planning, regulations, and utility engagement. By arming local governments with the latest information and best practices, the program aims to ensure they are well-equipped to make informed decisions and develop effective strategies for EV adoption.

Strong partnerships have been established between Power a Clean Future Ohio, the Great Plains Institute, Clean Fuels Ohio, and the Electrification Coalition to ensure the program's success. These partnerships enable the program to leverage additional resources and expertise to support local governments’ EV readiness efforts.
